Farman No - 58 to 70.

Haq Mawlana Dhani Salamat Datar Sarkar Aga Sultan Muhammad Shah Imam has made the following Farman:

(147) If you neglect the practice of reading the Farmans and the Ginans, Satan may deceive you, and you will not be able to remain steadfast on the din.

My din, the Darveshi dharam, is called Haqiqati. Haqiqati din is to be practiced within the heart (dil).

Those who have followed Ginans and ilm in the past have achieved salvation.

(148) You will become like angels if you purify your heart.

(148) There is great benefit in thoroughly understanding ilm yourself first and then teaching it to others.

Difficulties as huge as mountains can become rendered easy with ilm.

Strive to acquire ilm (knowledge) and keep courage. The one who possesses courage can reach till the seventh aasmaan.

(149) If you remain engrossed in Ibadat-Bandagi, Allah’s noor will illuminate within you, and you will be free from bad deeds. If you do not cultivate the habit of performing Ibadat, both your duniya and din both will be destroyed.

If you do not know how to recite Dua, then recite the tasbih twelve times in the name of "Pir-Shah".

When a man wishes to become a bodybuilder (pehelwan), he exercises; therefore, you should perform Ibadat-Bandagi and become the bodybuilder of the din. The exercise of the din is a spiritual exercise.

If one is faithful but poor and courageous, even if they are poor, they will not fear jumping into a deep well and will immediately jump into it. Do not fear and cultivate courage.

(150) It will have a great impact if the meanings of the Ginan, Quran, Mathnawi (Rumi’s Poems), etc. are explained in an integrated way.

The teaching of the Ginans is such that, if listened to attentively, it will enter the heart. If one interprets its meaning correctly, even the blind would understand.

The Quran-e-Sharif should be interpreted in the same way as the Mathnawi is interpreted. Similar meanings should be derived from the Quran, Ginans, Mathnawi, and other texts. The meanings in the Mathnawi are similar to the teachings of Pir Sadardin, though it is in Persian; therefore, one should learn and understand its meaning.

(151) One who takes care of his own soul has only cared for one soul.

Serving the Jamat is more beneficial than Ibadat, and is equivalent to having cared for many souls.

If a pure imaandar person advises someone who lacks faith, the advice will still have an impact on them.

(152) “The virtue of a momin’s heart is such that I dwell in his heart.

(153) Your name is Moman. The late Aga Shah Hasan Ali and Aga Ali Shah Datar had said that “You belong to my family.

(154) You are in human form. God has been most benevolent to you that He has lovingly granted you the birth in Sira'tal-Mustaqeem (satpanth din). But, shame on you, your life passes in vain like that of an animal; and man returns to dust.

On the Day of Judgment, other people may even have an excuse that they were not aware of Sira'tal-Mustaqeem (Satpanth Din). But you the Arabs, the Badakshanis, the Khojas and the Mumans, and all others, who are the Ismailis of the true path (Satpanthi) will have no excuse at all on the Doomsday.

Under your feet is lying a pile of riches, it is covered by a heap of sand, which you can not push to this or to that side so that the treasure may come to your hand.

Just think! At this place there is present a fuel which can produce the light of great intensity.

In the lamp of your soul, there is an abundant amount of fuel, but if you do not ignite it with a matchstick, how can there be an illumination?

For how long will you keep on wasting the remaining part of your life in vain and in ignorance? Acquaint yourselves with the esoteric knowledge (batini ilm).

You are not practising Ibadat. This Ismaili din is a din par excellence, but you do not understand it. You must realize that you have a gem (jawahir) in your hands.

(155) Seek to recognize your descent (avatar) from Adam. Seek to understand your status of being in human form.

There are two dispositions in a human being. One is that of an angel and the other is that of a Satan. Whether to become an angel or an animal is in your own hands.

Donkey-like people come to me and ask: "What should we do? Our thoughts are on the world and even our Ibadat is by the tongue!" What reply can I give to such persons? So, I have to close my ears and sit speechless.

(156) Just as there is Shah above the angels, the same manner, there is Shah above you too. Just as there is a well in the angels, likewise, there is a well in you too. But unless you throw a pitcher in and bring up the water, water can not come in your hands.

For how long will you go on getting deceived? For how long will you keep your thoughts on the world?

Why has God created the night? The night is not totally for sleeping, but is also for Ibadat, and in Ibadat is contained the happiness!

For a man, the sleep of six hours is more than enough. Spend the remaining hours of night in Ibadat.

You claim to be a momin; so I ask you: What exceptional abilities do you possess which the animals don't?

Reflect! What stage have you reached now?

Your worthiness (fazeelat) and all your time should be to recognizing your soul.

(157) At present, you have two paths on either of your sides. One path is on one side and the other one on the other side. One path is that of the animal i.e. the physical and the other is that of the soul, meaning the angel's path. Angel's path leads to the sky (asmaan). If you go by this path, you will reach the seventh sky (asmaan). If you forsake this path, your soul will stay just on the earth.

Think about the path which leads to the seventh sky (asmaan).

Having been born as a human being, for how long will you remain like that of an animal (hewan)?

For how long will you keep on loving the world?

For how long will you go on getting deceived by the world?

If you muster up the courage and take the path leading to the sky (asmaan), you will be able to see in your young age the thing that I have in my hands.

If you tread the true path with ek-dili and with love, you will be able to reach the asmaan (sky); if not, you will remain on the earth. All this is in your hands.

(158) The Farmans that I make to you are indeed the gems (jawahir). Those who are humans will pick up those gems. But those who are animals (hewan) will have their eyes on the grass and will leave the gems.

Whatever may be the strength of your imaan with which you have come to me, if you now go back with the same strength of imaan, then what will be gained ?Understand the essence of the Ismaili din satpanth. Understand how your heart viz. spirit (jeev) can become purified!

Some amongst you do gather courage and attend Jamatkhana and practise Ibadat-Bandgi. The one who goes to Jamatkhana and performs Ibadat-Bandgi, and is courageous has his heart more on the knowledge (ilm).

One day, while Hazrat Isa was walking with his disciples, he came across a man. Seeing this man, Prophet Hazrat Isa ran away into one of the side lanes. After he had gone far enough, other disciples came to him.

(159) They asked the Prophet, “Sir, you do not fear the tiger and the lion, nor do you fear the other ferocious animals, then what made you run away on just seeing a fakir-like man?”

Prophet Hazrat Isa replied, “The man who came across was a fool (nadaan), a faithless (be-din) person. It is better to run away from a fool, a faithless donkey. It is in one's interest to stay away from such faithless (be-din) people.”

Teach the young children amongst you the knowledge (ilm) of the din and the Ginans, so that your children will grow up as pious persons. If you will not teach them the knowledge (ilm), they will become like that of a donkey, and will speak some words, will chatter by the mouth, and will say: “We have done Ibadat-Bandgi!”

Now is your time! Open your intellect (aql), listen, remember, and reflect on it.

Think of the ruhani Ginans given by Pir Sadardin and the Farmans of the Imam of the Time.

If you read them just like you read the newspapers, how can they benefit you? Internalize each and every line in your heart. Every line of the Ginans and of my Farmans is as good as a thousand of lines.

When you read ilm, sit back and think! Think over this side and think over that side, too. When you will think about it in deep, you will be able to understand something of it.

(160) Be courageous; give up laziness; forsake the thoughts of the world. You are human beings and will have to die in two days; get Ibadat-Bandgi accomplished! If you do not practise Ibadat, you will go to hell or you will again become an animal (hewan). What benefit is there in that?

Give strength to your imaan which is in your heart. Till today, there had been laziness in your heart. From now on, make a commitment by your heart and give your God a place in your heart. Make such a commitment that as from today you will have a lot of courage; have such courage and make such a commitment that as from today you will have your thoughts more on the din.

(161) Enquire from the soul of your heart, how does the spirit (jeev) function within you? For two, three hours in day and night, thinking of the spirit (jeev) remain in conversation with it. For how long will you keep your heart devoid of Ibadat?

Just like a hen, who strikes its head on the ground, for how long will you keep on striking your head on the ground? You must aspire to rise upwards, that is, the aspiration of your soul should be to reach the asmaan.

Listen! The disciples of Murtaza Ali were as that of Salman. Salman was a Persian i.e. an Iranian; yet owing to Ibadat-Bandgi he achieved the status of Ahlal-Bayt.

Those who do not understand the meaning do not have their soul in it. They just chatter by the mouth.

Al-hamdulillah, you should be grateful that you have been born in this Sira'tal-Mustaqeem (Satpanth Din). You should have your thoughts on it. If your thoughts were on it and if the soul were to leave your body, you would proceed directly to Paradise.

(162) There is a place even holier than Paradise- this is where the soul should reach!

Your soul is the spirit (jeev) of your past; align it in harmony with your heart. For how long will you remain in disharmony (be-dili)? For how long will your soul remain in impurity (khak)? That which is pure (pak) is something else and that which is impure (khak) is also something else.

Get determined. At present, you are in impure state (khak); from that impure state, you elevate yourself to be in pure state (pak). If you attain that pure state, then, whether your body is burnt or is eaten by the dogs, there is no indignity in that at all. A thing which is impure (khak) just returns to impurity in the end, but the soul which is in the body is the pure thing!

The one whose soul is purified will rise even higher than the status of Angel Gabriel, that is, he will become like that of a Prophet.

What is the way to purify the soul? First of all, imaan should be purified; thereafter, Ibadat must be performed and, after that, a continuous training must be undertaken.

By doing exercise, man can become a bodybuilder. Just as you exercise your body to become a bodybuilder, if you give similar exercise to your soul, you can move forward and become a champion of the soul.

(163) When you perform My Kaangwa, it means that you perform My Baiyat. Those who perform My Kaangwa make a commitment to me: "As long as we are alive, we will never go out of Farman." I too, on my part, assure them, “In that world too, you will be with me and I shall be with you.

(163) As you are in human form, you have 'birth and death'. If a man (insaan) goes on passing through the process of 'birth and death', then what is gained?

Ibadat is indeed a continuous exercise and training. If you will not practise Ibadat for about a month or so, then, slowly but surely, you will forget the exercise. If you do not exercise, you will not become an athlete, your body will turn listless; that is, it will become lethargic.

The soul is in your body; its exercise is Ibadat.

If you will not go to Jamatkhana, how would exercise of Ibadat be performed?

Jamatkhana does not mean to have a big bungalow built. That is but not a natural creation.

(164) By performing Ibadat, you will benefit, that is, your fondness and the goodness of your heart will keep on increasing.

A man should not have in his heart such a thought that on reaching a certain stage, he should stop there.

The sign of a momin is that he does not get pleased in one-time achievement. A momin's aim is to keep on rising upwards.

A momin's ambition is to become an angel and attain the status of Angel Gabriel. It is not possible for the physical faculties to reach that status, but the heart can attain it.

Get determined in your heart and become pure (pak). How does a man (insaan) become pure? When eyes, ears, nose, and mouth - all become pure (pak), the soul (ruh) can rise upwards.

If the mouth of a man (insaan) too is tied by the Farmans, it does get shut! The difference between a Haqiqati insaan and a hewan is that even when the mouth of an insaan is not tied, he does not bite. The heart of a Haqiqati does not seek to bite anyone because he is not pleased in biting. But such people are rarely found in the entire world. Even when you have your mouth open, you should not bite. You must not even think of biting anyone.

The Farmans that I make are like the gems.

You must reflect on My Farmans for two hours.

When I open my mouth to deliver the Farmans, heaps of pearls are bestowed, but only those momin who can appraise them are able to know the value of those pearls and realize what a thing they have received!

But you are ignorant (nadaan)! Prophet Isa had run away from the ignorant people. You are like those ignorants. So, what benefits will you be able to get from these heaps of pearls?

(165) you should aspire to become pure by doing Ibadat.

Haqiqati momin observe fasting not only during the month of Ramazan; for them, all the 360 days are days of fasting. Not a single evil deed in all the 360 days signifies fasting.

Keeping the mouth shut and not eating anything but doing other sinful acts is just not fasting. This fasting is but of the thoughts (khyaal).

Whoever will practise Ibadat with his clean and pure heart will become like that of Prophet Hazrat Isa and Prophet Hazrat Musa; not only that but will attain the status even higher than that. The status of Isa and Musa Nabi can be attained by the person who's every thought (khyaal) remains pure all his life, those whose heart remains pure and whose soul remains in harmony with God, day and night, such persons, with their courage, can attain the exalted status.

(166) I know that you all are not such, that you can become like that of Hazrat Isa or Hazrat Musa, but if you become a little bit more virtuous each day, if you move ahead, step by step, inch by inch howsoever a bit, nonetheless, I will take that as your gain.

Some people do move ahead on the path, but they also take two steps backwards. If it happens like that, then just think, how can one attain the status that one has to?

Performing the Baiyat is that you do agree to have come under my allegiance. Now, if you break that agreement, it becomes a joke! You do not come to make fun, do you?

Despite my coming here, if you do not gain any benefit, then what is the use of my coming here and also of yours attending here?

If you go back without eating the meva that I give you, then, what is the use of taking pains and coming here? Think about it with intellect.

After returning to your homes, practise more Ibadat, be more courageous, act with more ek-dili, serve more the Imam of the Time, and spread the knowledge (ilm) of the din amongst your children.

(167) Those who are in the villages their souls should be instructed with the words of guidance. So that they may not say their souls did not get the words of the faith (din). When the words of din and guidance which must reach their souls do not reach them, their hearts wander everywhere.

What big difference is there between your din and that of the others? Think about it.

Your religion is "spiritual" (ruhani) and that of the others is "physical" (jismani).

How great is the difference between the "spiritual" (ruhani) and the "physical" (jismani) din! If Mukhi, Kamadia will not explain that to the children and if the words of guidance will not reach their souls in their young age, then the physical religion (jismani din) would get set into their conscience (dhyaan).

The man who has not eaten a good fruit like mango, such a man will eat things like garlic, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and will relish them; he will not feel any difference. The man who has not tasted the fruit like mango, why would not such a person love to eat onions and potatoes ? Therefore, the youngsters should be given training especially of the knowledge of the din, ilm and of the Ginans.

How dare you laugh here! As you have been lost in the world, you must weep from the heart. The Farmans that I have given today are worth sowing in your heart. Have you done that? I have a mango always in my din, and the other meva are all inferior. Get determined with your heart and eat good meva.

You must eat the meva of life hereafter (akhirat). The heart can understand these meva.

(168) You have come before me by walking great distances and enduring many hardships; each step you took will be rewarded on the Day of Judgement. I pray for you that Paradise may be closer to you.

(169) After this, the Jamat of one village urged Mawla to visit their village for a day. To this Mawlana Hazar Imam made the Farman:

Do not invite me for one day but keep me with you for all 360 days. If you see me in your heart, I am always sitting with you, which means I am sitting with you all 360 days.

Only those who act upon my Farmans are my true momins.

(169) I have given you an example of Prophet Isa, which you should never forget. Hazrat Isa was a Prophet. He would go in front of animals like lions, bears, tigers, etc., but once when he was passing through the street of Baitul muqaddas (Jerusalem), there were twelve companions with him. At that time a fakir like person was coming from the opposite direction. Upon seeing this man from a distance, Prophet Isa ran away as if fleeing from a tiger.

(170) Prophet Isa also left the road and ran into a side street. He ran as far as one or two miles and stood there. His twelve companions reached there and asked, “You are not afraid of a tiger and a lion, and you don’t even fear the other flesh-eating wild animals, then why did you run away from that fakir-like person?”

Hazrat Isa explained to them that the fakir-like man was extremely foolish (nadaan), and it was impossible for any knowledge (ilm) to penetrate his understanding.

Even a Prophet like Isa avoided the foolish (nadaan) and ignorant, fleeing from them.

It is highly advisable to remain away from the foolish and illiterate (be-ilm).

(171) Those who have performed my Kaangwa have given Bayat-oath of obedience to me, and I have also given my guarantee that I am extending my hand to those who do such great work. Khanavadan.

(171) During the time of Hirji Varas, there was much light in Gondal, which is not evident today. Therefore, I urge you, Jamat, to restore that same light. It would be greatly beneficial if you could rekindle the same light within you that was present during the time of Hirji Varas.

There were many excellent and faithful momins during the period of Vazir Hirji.

Earlier, the leaders and the Jamat functioned not only as one heart (ek-dil), but also as one soul (ek ruh).

(172) You should go back after eating the fruit (meva) that I have brought for you. If you come here for such a grand majalis and return unchanged, then your efforts would be considered futile. Strengthen your imaan and then return.

Satan is not like a genie (jin), as you might have imagined. Anyone who is wicked is himself a Satan. Remain far from even the shadow of a wicked person. Keep your path separate from theirs.

When you perform the Kaangwa, you must first understand the meaning of the Kaangwa, and after that, perform the Kaangwa. When you perform the Kaangwa, it means you perform my Bayat, i.e., you make a commitment and place your hand in my hand.

The commitment being made is that, till the end of your life, my Farman should be on your neck and that you should act upon my Farman. Just as a leash is tied around the neck, in the same manner, my Farman are to be placed on the neck with intellect. Don’t be pleased by just knowing this.

But you should also understand the meaning of this act and of the Farman. If you forget the motive of doing this act and that of the Farman, then what benefit can you gain by performing this act?

When you do this act, you must understand that you have made a commitment to the Murshid that, as long as you are alive, you will not go outside my Farmans.

If one performs Kaangwa with such an intention (niyat), I will not abandon him in the next world. I also give my oath to that person. I never break a promise that I have given. If you too never disobey my Farmans, only then will I give you, my promise. One who obeys my Farman and performs Kaangwa, gives the oath of obedience to me, I too give him my oath that I shall hold his hand in the akhirat.

(173) First, purify your heart and your eyes. After this, if you perform Ibadat, you shall see the benefit of the Ibadat.

The Ibadat, which is especially the esoteric (batuni) Ibadat; “What is that, Ibadat? What happens in it? And how it happens?” This is a spiritual exercise meaning practise, which only a few can understand. Always give such practice (training) to your soul.

You know that by exercising and strengthening the body, one can become a bodybuilder. Similarly, if you exercise the soul by doing batini Ibadat, you will become an angel. Do not lose your courage.

Once, Hazrat Musa was going to a city, and at that moment, he saw a light at a distance. He began to move closer to that light. As the Prophet got closer and closer to the light, that light kept on moving further and further away from him; even then, with great effort he reached the light.

Musa Nabi could not see the Noor immediately; he performed khidmat wholeheartedly for seven years, and then he was able to see the Noor. I am neither saying that you all must become like Prophet Musa, nor am I even saying that you all can become like Prophet Musa.

(174) Build courage in your hearts and work hard. Even if you do not become like Prophet Musa, nevertheless, you will still advance and at least see something.

I can at least assure you that one who aspires to move ahead with a pure heart, I pray for him that he shall become an angel.

(175) You must make it a habit. You won’t be able to reap its benefits without cultivating a habit. Once this habit is cultivated, such a good habit will never go out of your hand.

Anyone who comes to where I am receives numerous benefits. The first benefit is the deedar, the benefits of Dua, the benefits of reading and listening to the Ginan ilm and conveying the words of the ilm to the other brothers-in-faith. This is not a trivial matter.

Do not let my Farmans go out of your ears.

Ya Ali Madad
